Laughter Yoga
I am a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader (CLYL: trained by Sue Carter Ansari) and a Certified Laughter Yoga Trainer (CLYT: trained by Dr. Madan Kataria, the founder of Laughter Yoga).
In March of 1995, while Dr. Kataria was writing for a health journal about the benefits of laughing for improved health he decided to conduct early morning field research in a park. He describes this particular Indian park as similar, in span, to New York's Central Park. He invited and convinced five other people to join him in laughing. From research conducted over many consecutive days, he concurred that ...Laughter is the best medicine!
Laughter Yoga combines Unconditional Laughter with Yogic Breathing (Pranayama). Anyone can Laugh for No Reason, without relying on humor, jokes or comedy. Laughter is simulated as a body exercise in a group; with eye contact and childlike playfulness, it soon turns into real and contagious laughter. The concept of Laughter Yoga is based on a scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between fake and real laughter. One gets the same physiological and psychological benefits. I welcome the opportunity to help you start a Laughter Club in your community or business. Research shows that laughter decreases stress and feelings of isolation. This can be especially helpful in businesses or corporations by increasing team camaraderie, productivity while decreasing medical days used by employees.

Laughter Yoga was started by medical physician, Madan Kataria, from Mumbai, India in 1995 in a public park with only five other people. Today over 6,000 Laughter Clubs meet regularly in 60+ countries.

Presently, I lead a monthly Laughter Yoga session at Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids (Michigan) & have been a featured Certified Laughter Yoga Leader since Laughfest 2013 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. Laughfest is an annual fund-raiser for Gilda's Club (https://www.laughfestgr.org). Enthusiastically, each year, I accept the invitation from the Laughfest organizers to lead Laughter Yoga!! Annual training is provided during the second weekend of Laughfest for those interested in becoming Certified Laughter Yoga Leaders. This is a highly unique opportunity as students co-facilitate, with me, in leading Laughter Yoga on the final Laughfest day. Certified Laughter Yoga Leaders, trained by me, are invited to return each year to co-facilitate any LY session during Laughfest.
Please use the Contact Form if you desire more information about Laughter Yoga for yourself or your business &/or are interested in becoming a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader.
